And thanks ev...Jen -- thanks for checking my blog. And thanks even more for responding. I'm having fun with this. You know, my mom hated cooking too. Don't know why I like it so much. I'm not a gourmet cook -- very plain, but I like the process and I like feeding people. Maybe that's why I like teaching, too.

Hope your summer is going well. dDeana Chadwellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17904002435811922875noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5633361416485591575.post-42590763426788095982011-05-22T00:32:37.929-07:002011-05-22T00:32:37.929-07:00Dee,
I never knew soap was so complicated until no...Dee,
I never knew soap was so complicated until now. Sounds like a laboratory, alright! I must confess something. I am still learning how to cook at 38-years-old, so most family meals feel as daunting as your soap-making procedure. For me, soap-making sails right past daunting and lands smack-dab in the middle of sheer terror! I don’t know what it is about the kitchen and the ‘making of food’ that I find so repellant. I blame my mother, who still doesn’t cook by the way. God love her. She didn’t really have much time or interest. My brother, DP, taught me the fine art of ‘mac and cheese’, ‘cheese on toast’ and, of course, ‘cereal at any time’ as a means of survival.
I have never read a blog before, let alone make a comment. I hope I am doing it correctly. Dee, I love your writing. I will write more. It’s a process of working-out the critic in my head and getting over you being my teacher. You are fast becoming my mentor in many things and many ways. I don’t want to ever make soap, though. I will learn something else from the old homestead times. I promise to learn how to cook. I am from Oklahoma after all so I was technically ‘brought up’ on the prairie. Unfortunately, the ‘little house’ just evolved into parking lots, suburbs and oil wells over the years. But we are a fearless bred. We find harsh weather (tornados, flash floods and thunderstorms) a great source of entertainment! The kitchen should NOT make me quake in my boots.
Jen LackJenniferhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11210597185854701093noreply@blogger.com
